In the years before I had tried to photograph landscape in a idealistic way, but everywhere in nature you would find debris or remains of human presence, interferring with the idea of an image you would like to find in… Germany. In spring of 1974 I photographed that aluminium-garage, which seemed to me like an object having landed from outer space. From then on I started to photograph these man-made objects as parts of landscape. Maybe it was Peter Fondas film „Idaho-Transfer“ from 1973 too, or the discussion about the neutronic bomb, which made me photograph the things without human beings – sometimes shimmering magically in the light.
